How It Works

The Referral Process

We accept referrals from community-based frontline workers and service agencies. Here's what to expect when seeking admission to our program.

01

Referral Submission

A community-based frontline worker (NNADAP representative, Mental Health Worker, Counselor) or service agency submits a referral on your behalf.

02

Application Review

Our admissions team reviews your application to ensure our program is the right fit for your needs and circumstances.

03

Intake Assessment

If your application is accepted, we conduct an intake assessment to understand your unique situation and create a personalized treatment plan.

04

Welcome to Treatment

You arrive at Native Horizons to begin your 6-week journey of healing, growth, and reconnection with your culture and community.

Admissions Criteria

Important Information

To ensure a supportive environment during this deeply therapeutic journey, please review our admissions criteria carefully.

We Accept Referrals From

  • NNADAP Representatives
  • Mental Health Workers
  • Community Counselors
  • Indigenous Service Agencies
  • Non-Indigenous Service Agencies

We do not process referrals directly from medical professionals or facilities.

Medical Considerations

Because we are not a medically equipped facility, we cannot accommodate:

  • Individuals currently taking Methadone or Suboxone
  • Individuals taking Narcotics (such as Tylenol-3)
  • Individuals taking Ativan or anti-psychotic medications
  • Individuals who are severely physically dependent

Diagnostic Considerations

We are unable to accept applicants diagnosed with:

  • Bipolar Disorder
  • Personality Disorders
  • FAS/FASD
  • Brain injuries

Pregnancy Considerations

The intense trauma work involved in this program is physically and emotionally demanding. Due to the profound nature of this process and the potential implications for an unborn child, we cannot accept pregnant individuals at this time.

We encourage those who are pregnant to reach out for alternative resources that can better support their unique needs during this time.
